The Association’s delayed Annual General Meeting took place on Tuesday 1st December via Zoom. Among other items considered by the meeting, was whether or not to continue the planning for its competitions to start in January 2021.
A number of factors were discussed, including the safety of everyone involved, the currently available data in respect of COVID-19 cases in each borough, what might happen during the Christmas ‘pause’, the practical elements involved in staging matches, and whether or not it might be possible to run the competitions in a shorter timescale, commencing after the February half-term.
Ultimately, the meeting decided that the most sensible solution was to cancel all MSFA Competitions for the 2020-21 season. This is obviously not the outcome anyone would want, but it is hoped that by next season the pandemic might be under sufficient control to allow the tournaments to return and be better than ever in 2021-22.
We will continue to work with our colleagues in each borough and if it is possible to stage local events for schools’ during the Spring, we will support those.
We also remain open to fielding Girls’ Representative Teams in the ESFA and SEESFA tournaments if conditions allow.
