The Middlesex Schools’ FA U14 Girls Representative Squad ended the group stage of the regional championship undefeated after a 0-0 draw with Kent at Brunel University Sports Park on Thursday 16th March.
Both teams went into this match with two wins from two games, meaning that if either side could emerge from the fixture victorious, they would secure a home semi-final tie against the runners-up in the North section of the Essex Cup. An entertaining match ensued, with both teams adopting a frenetic pace.
At the end of an excellent and sometimes physical contest which had everything apart from goals, both teams advance to the knockout phase of this season’s competition. Kent take the top spot on goal difference, meaning that the Seaxes will travel to Hertfordshire for their semi-final. The date and venue of this match has yet to be arranged.
Congratulations to the U14 Girls’ Squad on reaching the Essex Cup semi-final! Attention now turns to the U16 Girls, who need to defeat Kent by two clear goals in their final group match to join the U14s in the knockout rounds. The match takes place on Thursday 23rd March at Brunel University Sports Park.
