Two girls from the successful Middlesex Schools’ FA Girls’ Representative Squads have made it to the final stage of trials which will identify the 2021-22 England squad!

In the second stage trial, held in Midlesex last weekend at Rectory Park, four players from the County represented the South-East of England against their counterparts from the South-West. Mia Obeng, Kayla Nohasiarisoa,    Saoirse Hourigan and Brianna John-Etiko had all been selected following the first part of the selection process and played for their region alongside girls from Befordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent and Sussex.

Having performed with distinction in both trials, Mia Obeng and Saoirse Hourigan will represent the South of England against the North of England in the Final Trial. This will be held at the National Sports Centre in Lilleshall, Shropshire on Sunday 12th December.

The full squad listing for both squads can be seen on the English Schools’ FA website.

Simply to represent the South-East region is a trememndous achievement for the four Middlesaxons selected for last weekend’s trial, but to be within touching distance of wearing the Three Lions, as Mia and Saoirse are, is outstanding. It goes without saying, of course, that both players will go to Lilleshall with the very best wishes of the whole Middlesex schools football community.
