Cardinal Wiseman 4-3 Fortismere

U12 Kay Cup Final
23rd April 2018

Cardinal Wiseman rallied from two goals down to claim the Kay Cup at the end of a thrilling Final, played at Silver Jubilee Park, the home of Hendon FC and Edgware Town FC.

The game started quite cautiously, as might be expected, with Cardinal Wiseman dominating possession and playing some nice passing football.

Fortismere then seemed to get into the game and created a lot of pressure in the Cardinal Wiseman half, leading to a slightly scrappy goal for Fortismere. The pressure continued and Fortismere scored a nicely worked goal from the left foot of their striker.

Wiseman scored just before half time to give themselves a foothold in the game. Early in the second half, Fortismere scored from a well-worked through ball and seemed to settle into a 3-1 lead with about 20 minutes left.

Wiseman then scored from a well taken corner and their team rallied to apply more and more pressure which lead to a spread defence and they scored again. With only five minutes left, they were the dominant team and their pressure led to another goal from a set piece.

Fortismere pushed forwards, nearly scoring but the shot went just over the bar. The final score was 4-3 to Cardinal Wiseman, an excellent comeback from 3-1 and showing real determination

Congratulations to both teams on reaching the Final and especially to Cardinal Wiseman on their victory. The Middlesex Schools’ FA wishes to place on record its thanks to the management of Silver Jubilee Park for their exemplary hosting of the match. We are grateful to Mr Cox of Fortismere for compiling the match report and taking the photo of the Fortismere team shown above.
