Middlesex Schools’ FA teams dominated the Boys’ Football event at the London Youth Games last weekend, with all of the medal winners being members of the Association.
The London Youth Games trace their history back to the London Jubilee Games of 1977. The football event is a small-sided tournament which opens with a group stage, from which the top 16 teams progress to the knockout phase.
This year’s event took place at Brunel University Sports Park. Having successfully navigated the group stage, Brent marched through the knockout rounds to earn the right to play Camden in the Final. Brent eventually took the title, leaving Camden with the Silver Medal. Host borough Hillingdon took the Bronze Medal. All three field teams in the MSFA’s Inter-District Leagues, although in the case of Camden, students from Islington are also eligible to play in the longer-format matches.
With 33 boroughs participating, the London Youth Games is a hugely prestigious title to win and doing so is a major achievement.
We congratulate Brent, Camden and Hillingdon on their success and look forward eagerly to the start of the new Inter-District season at the beginning of October.
