The English Schools’ FA announced last week that the DfE has approved the resumption of inter-school football matches. You can read that announcement here, or the information from GOV.UK here.
With this in mind, MSFA is preparing for the 2020-21 County Cups to begin in November, as previously announced. All schools who were affiliated to the Association for 2019-20 have been emailed to advise them of the current action plan.
The final date on which affiliations may be submitted is Friday 18th September.
It is important to note that the ESFA made no reference to either Inter-District or Inter-County matches. The Association’s Emergency Committee has been conducting risk assessments as to whether fielding County Representative Teams in a safe, COVID-secure manner will be possible and deliberations continue. In terms of the Inter-District Leagues, the Association has already proposed a temporary change of format and delaying the start of these competitions until January 2021.
